Curriculum

Stepping Stones Pre-School provides a play based, hands on curriculum, through which the children can develop and explore early concepts in all areas.
We encourage the children to be as independent as possible at all times. All activities are supported by discussion and the children are encouraged to talk and share their ideas throughout the session.
We aim to make each child feel confident enough to do this in a one-to-one setting as well as in small and large groups. We also emphasise listening skills, name recognition and early writing skills.
We recognise the importance of children working and playing alongside one another so many of our activities aim to promote these skills. We also work on early number concepts by means of number songs and rhymes, supported by counting, matching and sorting activities.
The six areas which make up the curriculum are:
Social interaction in the garden

Personal, social and emotional development

Creating a car using shapes

Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy

Owl Babies book and Autumn collage

Communication, language and literacy

Investigating coloured ice blocks

Knowledge and understanding of the world

Balancing

Physical development
